| Google Promote, Remove and Comment buttons I've just noticed that there are 'Promote', 'Remove' and 'Comment' buttons on Google search results. I don't think they were there yesterday so I assume they're new today. google_promote_remove_comment.JPG
How do you think this will affect SEO or your position in the SERPs?

| Re: Google Promote, Remove and Comment buttons Don't like the idea at all. They went from a "Keep it Simple" attitude to now just messing with crap for the sake of messing with it. Their algorithm already has this somewhat built in, so a stupid button is just wasted space. |

They are only for your own computer. Its a user friendly feature. Nothing to worry about. |

| Re: Google Promote, Remove and Comment buttons Google Claims that they've already got a part of their algorithm that will bump up/down sites that aren't clicked or are clicked more often when searched. I can understand this as a personal thing, but I see it going beyond just yourself and that they'll take it into consideration more in the future. |

| Re: Google Promote, Remove and Comment buttons I noticed the buttons are only available when you log into your Google account so it's very much a local feature.
I've logged into it using two different PCs in two different countries (UK and US) and it kept my settings so must be stored in your account somewhere and not on the local PC. |

They save all of our data for their viewing whenever they want to, and can easily use that data to mess with their SERP's. I hope they don't mess up the regular search, but only time will tell. |

| Re: Google Promote, Remove and Comment buttons What the hell? Won't that turn google into a popularity contest instead of a relevance and good content contest? Hey members, everyone go click us on google. It's like some stupid vBulletin.org BOTM award where the admins all ask everyone they know who never login to vBorg to go vote for their sites.

-Raymond | The voting and moving-up of results only affects individuals, not the rest of the world. Did you watch the video? |

As soon as they want to, they can just make it for more than the individual. Then you'll see blatent spamming all over.
I hope for everyones sake they don't do it. At the same time though, just look at the way they're heading and it looks like it could happen pretty easily. |
