April Fool's Day

April Fool's Day will be upon us soon, and webmasters will use the occasion to play pranks on their visitors. This year I'm probably going to keep it simple and just let the members throw eggs at each other, but I haven't made a final decision yet. Do you have any plans for your forum?

I know a guy who ran a forum that had some pirate material on there and told his users he was being shut down by the feds...big forum (30k+ members) and they all freaked!

Last year I used the Enchefiniser (Swedish chef) and it was a succes. This year I look at your ideas.

We have a nice story that should get a few folks in the online Disney community

Plus, we have a promotional plan that we are going to follow as well to try and get the word out

I used the Encheferizer a couple of years ago, complete with random Swedish Chef avatars and the Swedish Chef popping out of the logo, and it was a disaster. No one posted until I removed it.

Last year a week before april 1 a bunch of us on a site i frequent put in a lot of money and bought a hundred or so tickets on the NY mega millions lottery. the admin thought he was funny and told us we won the 300+million dollar pot.....lmao....had some people riled up for a good while.

Alot of our members come from a forum similar to ours, some even hate the forum. So we have temporarily changed the staff usernames to the ones on the rival forum. Im awaiting a few rants and threads on why my site has changed ownership..

Lol, that is a nice one.
I have made a new forum which states is only for the staffmembers and when the nosy members/visitors click, they get a page full of alerts and find themselves in communication with an irritating line of messages. Old javascript, but still does the trick.

Kind of a controversial story in the online Disney community .... doesn't mean much to other non-Disney fanatics, but it's been getting me some nice hits (reported through TwitterFeed which feeds to my Ping.fm which feeds to my Twitter which feeds to my Facebook

) on the site. Had the most clicks on Google Adsense every yesterday with over $11!

welp i have switched the skin 2 times and now back, one had a rick astley background. now one of the most liked members and i have staged a fight in the shout and i banned him for 3 days, waiting for the backlash. i stil have 2 more plans..
