| Re: Books about online communities... has anyone read these? Maybe whatever mod you've got formatting them has their affiliate id in there by default? I had assumed it would be your affiliate id if you had a mod to format them... |

| Re: Books about online communities... has anyone read these? That is someone's affiliate ID. Not sure where it's coming from, but mine is =waldisbo-20 or something like that. So, that ending piece of the url/code is the indicator of who it is. |

THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE KNOWN ABOUT AME
Here's a few FYIs about some of definitions available and some tips and tricks with regard to the AME modification itself.
Amazon (Thumbnails) and (Links): The Thumbnail version of the Amazon Links was created by nevetS of this forum. To work in your own affiliate ID, look for the instances of the tag= and replace the following id with your own.
Examples: tag=stopmomstop-20 | tag=citofgamonlco-20
Amazon Thumb1.jpg Amazon Thumb2.jpg
As noted above, you don't want Thumbnail and Links turned on at the same time, which is why I have them both in the Master XML, but one of them set to off.

| Re: Books about online communities... has anyone read these? hie thee to Amazon then! I'm surprised you're not already signed up.. I can't say Amazon links have ever earned me much but every little bit helps.. And people are more willing to buy a book if their friends are talking about it. |

| Re: Books about online communities... has anyone read these? Patrick, I hope to win a copy and then I'll be happy to post again about it While I have your attention though, does your publisher know about BookShare.org? I'd love to be able to read this in a digital format, and so would many other people with disabilities Quote: |
Bookshare.org believes that people with print disabilities deserve the same ease of access to books and periodicals that people without disabilities enjoy. The Bookshare.org library provides print disabled people in the United States with legal access to over 41,000 books and 150 periodicals that are converted to Braille, large print or digital formats for text to speech.

Candyman,
I appreciate the kindness. The book has been selling fairly well, from what I can tell. I actually received my first sales statement today, but I am not 100% sure how to read it. It looks good, though.
What sort of feedback would you be interested in?
Soliloquy,
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see what I can do.
Thanks again,
Patrick |

| Re: Books about online communities... has anyone read these? Thanks for the kind words, and yes, I've used phpBB for a long time. I operate the largest unofficial resource dedicated to the software. I'm a big believer in choice and respect of choice, when it comes to things like that. One question I get asked a lot is what is the best community or forum software. My answer is always that there is no best, that there is only the best for you and there are any number of viable choices out there, like vBulletin, phpBB, Vanilla, bbPress, Invision, SMF and more. Use what you like and let it rock, that's what I say.
Thanks,
Patrick |

| Re: Books about online communities... has anyone read these? Patrick is being modest, phpBBHacks.com - phpBB hacks, mods, templates, styles, downloads, support and much more! is simply an awesome and IMHO the best resource for phpbb users
I had never gone to phpbb.com and actually didn't even know they had a forum attached for a year after using phpbb |

| Re: Books about online communities... has anyone read these? Back when I had a phpBB forum (3 or 4 years ago) I was always on phpBBhacks. Most of the time it was from me messing up my forums trying to install modifications, haha. |
