Do you delete member's affiliate links on your forum?

What would you do if a legitimate member linked to affiliate programs on your site? Would you delete their message for spamming, replace their affiliate ID with your own (as in the case of the Dynamic Amazon Links mod), or let them be?

I usually remove the affiliate section of the url and leave the domain.

i think that is what i would do as well, but i guess it depends too....

if its a good member and legitamate i might think about leaving it, not like im putting out aff links.

Re: Do you delete member's affiliate links on your forum?

It depends on whether the 'link' is something that I'm using as an affiliate myself.

In the Dynamic Amazon Links example, I would edit it to mine and inform them about the 'conflict of interest'. But, if it's something that is not offensive or something that I do not have an affiliate program with (or wouldn't consider in the near future), then I would let them have it.

More and more, sites are limiting their member's interaction with other sites and not allowing links from other sites or other programs, etc. I encourage it (and have some very loyal members because of it) due to the fact that I have confidence that they'll have a better or a different experience by browsing our site versus the other sites.

That's very forward thinking of you, Arny. I recently got a new member who has made several legitimate posts, but added a broken affiliate link to the marketplace section in an attempt to sell stickers. I'm going to leave it there for now (I'm not an affiliate of the sticker shop, though maybe I should check it out) but not sure yet what I'll do the day someone tries to link to a store I'm affiliated with....
