Do your members welcome the newbies?

On my children's entertainers forum, the members are pretty welcoming of newbies, often commenting on their introductions or asking them questions about themselves. On some of the others, they don't say a word Are your members friendly and welcoming or do you have to urge them to be?

Yes my members are very welcoming. Many of us know one another from other forums. I have assembled a "Welcome wagon" where I have a member (I'm looking at for a potential Mod) send a personalized welcome PM to new folks.

Re: Do your members welcome the newbies?

I'm the only one who welcomes people right away on my forum. Once and awhile other members do this. Or some members bump very old welcome threads and add there link. (Tick's me off) lol

Snakeair, sometime when you're writing to those members, you should add in that you appreciate how they helped welcome the newbies; maybe it will get them to do so more often

Re: Do your members welcome the newbies?

Its funny watching newbies on my forum. We get voiceover artists and radio DJ's so they are really interesting to watch.

All of my mods know to welcome new members with a visitor message and along with my welcome PM and my own visitor message to them, it makes them feel welcome for sure

Re: Do your members welcome the newbies?

Yeah, when I signed up on Arny's site I was surprised to find several visitor messages left on my profile welcoming me. On my site we just use the introduction thread, but I thought it was a nice touch. This way they get to keep those messages with them

mine do to the point where i think it overwhlems the newb and intimidates them almost, i might implement a sort of welcome wagon group rather then a welcoming free for all
