Forum-based games

What sorts of "chain games" are your members playing on your forum? Right now my members have started two and I've started one:

- Word Association Game: I started them off with the word "silly" in October of last year, and they're still going strong at 2,917 posts..

-A Story of Three Words: everyone tries to advance the story, but only by three words at a time. This one keeps turning into unrelated three-word phrases and jokes instead of a story, but they're still at it.

-Scrabble: A. member started them off with a four-letter word and told them to change one letter at a time, but only if it formed a new word. They quickly ran out of four-letter words and decided to add five and six letter words in the same post.

Someone also started a "Battlefield" where they squirt each other with water, slime, etc., but that hasn't really taken off.

Re: Forum-based games

These are all good and serve a purpose solil. It gives new members a easy way to break into the community by giving them easy oppurtunity to post and it works. Usually i turn off post counts in the "joke or posting games" section cause really the posts are worth a post count IMO, my list of posting games can be seen here, i have a few you have named

Hmm some good ones there! I think my members would really like the "Worst Possible Thing to Say' game, think I'll run that up the flagpole and see who salutes.

Re: Forum-based games

Yeah that's fine, i used to post a lot in there to keep them going but now the members post when they want and the whole section kinda annoys me honestly. i installed the mod that filters section out of the "getnew" search so i dont have to see all those posts....lol

Re: Forum-based games

Yeah, I don't think I'd be happy if my members were participating in quite that many, if it took away from actual discussion. But I can see a few that might fit in well with the theme of the forum.
