Growing into your forum
Many new forum admins make the mistake of setting up their site and adding each and every possible section they will ever need right off the bat. This creates 2 problems.
1. too many sections to choose from when a new member wants to make a new thread
2. many empty sections as you can only makes so many threads a day
What i suggest is to start your forum off, brand new, with a few well thought out general sections. as those sections grow and you have enough content to spread, pick a popular topic, make a new forum, and move all the threads on that topic out of the general section and into the new forum.
example:
you have a new general forum and have lots of people talking about cars
DO NOT make a new forum for cars, a new forum for trucks, a new forum for suvs, a new forum for hybrids, a new forum for imports, etc etc
DO make 1 forum for all car talk, let it grow, then once you have say 15 or 20 various threads about trucks, add a truck SUB forum. if trucks continue to grow make it it's own forum if its that big. same with other types of vehicles..
just a little advice from the Caddyman
