Have you ever had a bad member turn stalker?

I've never really had a problem like this. Back in my phpbb2 days, I had a few members that didn't agree with the way I ran things and started attacking the site, but never really had anyone that has stalked me or tried to post defamation remarks about myself until recently..
I'm interested to hear if you've ever had anyone or group do this to you and what have you done to fix the problem.

Yes, I have a special friend who likes to register at sites that I am on and follow me around.

It's not limited to vBulletin forums, he tried getting into my Facebook and other things too.

I was stalked, both cyber and offline, by a member from a foum that I previously owned. This was back when cyber-stalking was laughed about, and "real-life" stalking wasn't taken that seriously.

I sold the site, lol

Those kinds of people need to get a real life. It gets rather boring banning the same person, over and over.

Yes continually, and one guy has criminal 4 records including charged for child porno offences whislt on $50K bail for drug dealing.

There's a whole network of useless thugs that follow me around, sabotage, defamate, defaecate etc.

Then again, the tree industry is reknown for having the bottom of the barrel types in it! :agoodpoint:

what seems obvious is their lack of debating or reasoning ability. Should a debate break out my motto is go hard on the topic not the people, but these apes before you know it have to slag off at people, name call, round their useless mates up and have a go .... so I ban the POS's.

Then there's the intellectual types who think anything contrary to their point of view or perspective is worthy of a law suit, open debate is only good when they're winning but soon as they're losing they want it all deleted, gone, evaporated and hidden as their "stature" might be damaged. Screw them too.

Then there's the gutless lurkers who shoot their threats from the sidelines of the "contact us" button, they dont register just whine about something they read that may have concerned them or their business, screw them too, why dont they post? Because then they'll be exposed. One guy for example posted pictures of broken chipper blades ,,, "they" threatened to sue him over it .... bugger me, so what this does is make people scared to post and makes forum owners like me get tougher and dislike them wankers more.

I call them spineless back stabbers and carbon copiers, you do, they follow back stab but copy. Just dead beat wankers.

We had someone write and keep up to date with a hate blog as we were apparently such bad admin. This was within 1 month of opening lol

Never had one, i try to keep on people good sides as my fellow poster could be my neighbor and I am easy to find

But, I have run into this situation many times on sites, but only once off of a site. I never realized what a pain it would be to deal with something like this till it happened. Then the phone calls and weird stuff, its a real pain.But, it's pretty common when you ban someone for them to come back and be a pain. All you can do is keep sending them away untill they get tired. But I have to say it can be a headache.

Phone calls? I would hate that. I thought having a weirdo keep a blog up to date was bad enough.

Yeah, once a stalker decides to go that extra mile, big pain. The sad thing is it's pretty easy to get someone's personal info if you have just an email these days. So, from there you can get an address a phone number, and if you didn't use a privacy service when registering a domain, another easy way.My advice pay the extra money to keep your info hidden. You will be glad you did.

At the start of my board I had more moderators. Ofcourse one of them began to give tips etc, what is always nice. But I told the mission of the boards was otherwise so her ideas just did not fit.
Than she started to disagree with me in public which you never can do.
My opinion is that you do not have to agree with everything, but as a mod you must send out the message the boards has. If you can not live with that and its rules, take a hike. Well, I did that for her and she left with a grudge and started to talk bad about me, my 2 left hands and the board on other boards.

Luckely my board has a reputation. The media needs us now and than and healthinsurance companies have us listed on their sites. So the bad talk ricochet on her. She started her own board and maked it like she wanted it to be, good for her. But you can imagine our laughters when we see it was a failure (on a freeboard provider, dozens of empty forums, closed down for most viewers etc).
Her board died thanks to what she did on other boards and we never have heard from her again.

So I think in most cases when somebody is badmouthing you on other boards, let them be. Do not start fighting, which is what they want. Let them be. If you have a board with a good reputation that should be enough.
If such persons do it on your board, delete, delete, delete. Eventualy you will win. Amen.

i did get a phone call once from a women impersonating a policeman/investigator. she threatened me cause one of the members of my PA site had a avatar of her pasted on a donkeys ass, i freaked out for a minute and then talked to a friend/lawyer who said it wasn't illegal and to leave it, then come to find out it was the lady herself who called me.

The member that I was thinking of when I started this, has gone around on blogs posting as my name!
We are taking legal action, but I'm sure in the end, I'll just have to ignore him. He's been so stupid as to even post on my sites as me, thinking I wouldn't see it I guess??..lol

Oh well, I have a baby to worry about, I could care less about online stalkers. His plan to ruin my business obviously isn't working, I get emails and calls every week with clients wanting work done

I have the reverse problem. I am being stalked by admins from a forum I used to visit. I quit visiting the forum because the site changed drastically, or should I say, it became apparent the site was never what I thought it was. I just quit going. Now the admins are stalking me. They haven't called yet though!
