How can I improve?
What do you think of the sections? Too squished? Too boring?

Choose the dropdown TrumpetMaster, it's a very nice skin (GS v2, or something like that).

Garala, I'll be honest....it looks good to me. Just have to get those folks participating by adding some good content to the site. The music forums are tough unless you are working with a little niche within the music business with some passionate fans. Right now, it seems like you have a VERY widespread topic and it's not keying on any particular aspect of the music business. Overall though, it's a very nice skin (maybe a different color?) and the forums are okay from my point of view.

Skin looks nice. I would get rid of the shout box if your users will tolerate that move. I always like to put the News / Announcements, Comments / Suggestions at the bottom of the forum and put the forums with substance at the top for the easiest access.

The topic is very broad. I would narrow it down if at all possible. Good Luck

I agree with TrumpetMaster about removing the ShoutBox. I'm sort of anti-ShoutBox because it really takes away from potential topics to be discussed on the forums.

I would also do themed chats in a chat room. Maybe do "Hip Hop Mondays" or "Rock Tuesdays" or "Pop Thursdays"...you know, something like that. This way, you can start to see which ones are the most active members of the site and if you see that your Thursday night chats are jam packed, you can start to narrow down the focus of the site and topics.

set the custom skin as the default in the ACP.

kill the shoutbox (optional)

add a real, customized, welcome header

add a custom favicon

Music is kind of hard to do..You have a lot of copyright problems you have to deal with...So good luck..But after looking at it..I think has some potential..But with music you should compile some type of wiki..Or maybe a database of artists and albums..I mean something that will bring in traffic..Also name that song would be nice contest or something..

I agree with others..Fix default skin..favicon...I would maybe redo the forum descriptions a little better...But just normal SEO stuff...Plus that advertising box at top is ugly..Just my opinion
