New Site: AdminAddict

Hey guys!

I was just given the rights to AdminAddict which is a community for forum administrators.

The site never really became what it was mean to be due to the owner's lack of time... And that's why I've stepped in: to attempt to revive it and make it successful.

Do you guys have any suggestions/recommendations at all before I go completely public?

Feel free to register, introduce yourself, and make a few posts

Regards,
Nick

Re: New Site: AdminAddict

Try and do something that the other admin sites are not already doing.

There are plenty of other admin sites so I imagine it's going to be tough making another one successful.

I hate it when they give up quick and fill them up with RSS feeds from all the forum software packages.

I'm still on the lookout for a "featured workers" forum. Call it what you like. But it would be a place where people who like to pick up some extra bucks working on vB sites can be featured. It's sort of the reverse of a paid requests forum. Instead of posting your job and getting a bunch of replies, an owner browses a list of workers and see what their abilities, rates, and other sites they have worked on are so you can contact the people you would like to work on your site and know that you are contacting trustworthy people who will not take your money and run.

Thanks for the tips.

So do you think I should completely disable the RSS feeds? Perhaps limit the "Forum Software" specific sub-forums to just the one forum until it grows?

Also, wouldn't your "featured workers" forum fall under the AdminAddict Marketplace?

Re: New Site: AdminAddict

So I've decided to run a contest to help launch the forum with a bang. Hopefully it will work out, but my hopes aren't set too high.

I still plan on promoting on other forums as well as e-mailing all members who don't visit anymore.

Popowich, I have combined all of the various Forum Software subforums into a single forum and implemented prefixes. As the board picks up and more discussion takes place, I will add sub-forums for specific scripts as needed.
And I have disabled the RSS feeds.

Do you guys have any other recommendations?

Thanks again

Hey, I'am a member of that site. But I found it though vbulletin.org.

As of last night you only had 1,000 post. Just keep building content - threads and post - and people will keep joining.

I like the simple layout of the site.
