Soliloquy is a jewel in the rough
is it old members or new members who buy premium memberships?

I'm curious as to what makes people decide to spring for premium memberships on a forum (so I know best how to approach by members with the idea). Is it generally the long-standing members who just want more PM storage space, or the new members who want to feel as if they're on equal footing with the long-standing members?

good question, for us at first it was old members, but recently I've seen new members sign up and join within a week sometimes.

you have old members who after given the option say "hey, i love this site, i want to support it" some dont even want the extra features and want to donate anonymously.

you have the any member who wants to pay for the extra features

then you have the new members who want to join in or show they really like the site and are there to contribute

Re: is it old members or new members who buy premium memberships?

My site has all types of donators, from new to old.

Most donate because they love the site and what we offer. The features they could care less about. I suppose I could restrict PM space to like 25 PMs per person to get more people to sign up for expanded space.
