Quantcast for measuring traffic

I think it was Brandon (aka Loco M.?) that asked about Quancast for measuring traffic?

Well, let me tell you what happened today. Its almost a daily ritual - I go to quantcast and check the traffic for all of my sites. Even through traffic is only posted once every 2 or 3 days, I checked it almost daily. And today, my main forum showed to have taken a serious hit in traffic. The chart showed my site was down about 10,000 uniques since the last time the chart was updated - which was about 2 or 3 days ago. I was about to get pissed off. What could have happened for my forum to lose enough traffic to equal a 10,000 people?

Then I noticed something, my site was not being directly measured as it had been yesterday.

Quantcast, for what ever reason decided to change my account number on the tracking tag. This caused my site to go from "directly measured" traffic, to "estimated" traffic. And their estimate was 10,000 uniques lower then the directly measured traffic.

They did this same exact thing to my account about 8 months ago and I was stupid enough to go back.

I will NEVER recommend Quantcast ever again.

For anyone who is wondering, I'll save you a few clicks with the link to Quantcast.

When their site is working OK, have you noticed any benefit at all?

Have you ever had a problem with your site loading slow because their site is slow/down?
