Share your horror story! I think we've all been there at some point... your database crashes while you're on vacation, your staff turns against you, the members start fighting. What's your forum horror story? Quote |

Re: Share your horror story! Well, I'm at dinner and I get a text message from my lead mod that reads something like this.... "site is down!" ....well, this was early on in my forum-leadership so I was flippin' out a bit.  I started texting him back to see if he could open a ticket with our hosting company when I suddenly get another text that reads.... "okay, everything is back up!" Whew.  Quote |

Oh, prepare for a true drama In one of the sites that I admin (firefighting niche), there was a stupid member who disclosed the home address, phone # and personal email of a police detective, who was investigating an arson. I believe someone tipped of that officer, and our site was suspended by godaddy for 7 days, until the issue was resolved. It was the worst time it could happen. There was an initiative from forum owner and members to collect donations in order to fund the purchase of a new laptop for me, on occasion of my marriage. After 5-6 hours there was a good amount of money collected and laptop was a sure thing to come by that pace, only for the site to be shut down later and that action had failed, because after the site got back, it wasn't fair to do that anymore.
