Staff sections

To those of you that may have a moderator forum/section on your site, how have you got it set up? I mean is it just set private, or visible with password etc. What is considered the best way of going about it.

I need to add something similar, but want to also make sure pages don't appear in the search engines or become visible else where on the site. I believe with vbseo i can exclude a forum id from appearing in the site map, is that sufficient enough ?

Re: Staff sections

I have it completely private. I think that is the best way.

Re: Staff sections

completely private is the way to go...

make the sections, go to forum forum permissions and deny all, then allow only staff. make sure you test as logged out and as a reg member account to make sure they are hidden

A vent please
Re: Staff sections

I have it all hidden as well. Good advice about checking as 'regular member' and 'logged out' as well. Plus, be sure to remember whenever you add a new usergroup to not allow them access. I had a new usergroup that I added and luckily the only member of it told me of the error (he knew he shouldn't see some of the discussions going on) and then I fixed it.

Better to keep it hidden, even just being able to see it will spark curiosity or even jealousy in some people.

yeah people are curious by nature, you will be seeing on WOL "member viewing staff lounge" with the little denied symbol all the time.
