Twitter on Thursday night launched a new live-updating search tool and a marketing campaign to show businesses how to profit from the popular micro-blogging service.
The new widget
(which can be found here) allows users to create a continuous real-time update box on a custom search topic. The way it looks can be custom edited and it can be placed on a Web page.

(found here) contains Web pages, a downloadable slideshow and case studies that show how businesses can use the service.
Co-founder Biz Stone said at a news conference on Thursday that Twitter plans to roll out a series of paid services aimed at businesses in the coming year which will do things such as verify accounts and analyze traffic.
"We've been studying how customers and businesses interact and derive value from Twitter," the company said on its blog. "From this research, findings, use cases, and best practices have emerged."
In addition to the new widget and business how-to section, Twitter is reportedly planning to introduce a new home page. The
Wall Street Journal's All Things Digital blog reported that the new home page will let users try out the service before they sign up and will feature a search box and information on Twitter trends.
