What do you do about "goodbye forever" threads?

Many times on forums (thankfully not my own, yet) you'll see a member get angry at someone,, post a screed about how awful the forum is and they're never coming back... then they'll sneak back on to see if anyone tries to talk them out of it, then they'll continue their argument, then it will be business as usual... until the next time they get annoyed and threaten to take their ball and go home. How do you deal with characters like this?

If that happened, I'd remove the thread and send them a PM.

If you want to go, I'll gladly delete your account....if you want to stay, stop moaning like a bitch and get on with it!
