Re: When expanding your online empire...

Tyler, can you customize the buttons and features on there? I haven't read anything on it just yet. But, I'd like to be sure that I can customize things so that it has a similar 'feel' and can grab all (or as many) of the other members from the site.

Funny enough, we've had an influx of new members (17 in last 5 days...hey, it's big for us! ) and most of them were from that site after he announced the closure of his site. We normally had about 3 members every 4 to 5 days signing up and we've averaged that each day for the past few days.

Which, to me, tells me that I'm getting a hold of the most active members now and might not need to pay him for the rights to his property when I can use my own

Best of the forums!

Yep, features can be turned on or off and new fields/questions can be created. The Front end can be changed too as it is template based.

There are soooo many crappy social networking/dating scripts out there. I speak from experience. This is a solid script, and it's cheap to boot!

I think so Michele!

Tyler, do you know if they can keep the same logins and usernames, etc from vBulletin?

Is that what this means?

I don't believe they have a vbulletin bridge. You might want to ask about that on their support forums.

I've actually sent them a 'customization' request and also a question about the vBulletin bridge.

I'll post here when I find out. Seems like a pretty nice script.

Re: When expanding your online empire...

Got the info back...looks like they can build me a 'bridge' to vBulletin FROM their program to vBulletin for about $100, but it will almost double the price if they have to build it two ways.

Also, their quote on the customization of the software was a lot higher than I anticipated. $1600 for mimicking a style that I had selected.

So, I'm off to see some other more affordable options.

The software looked great and did fit my needs...but, I also have to keep my budget in mind.

Anyone else with social networking software experience or can point me to a good resource of information for them?

Can I use something like Elgg.org and just set it up for my own social networking site?

AHA!

I might be able to kill two birds with one stone!

WordPress MU can be modified using BuddyPress (BuddyPress About BuddyPress) and turned into a social networking. I'm reading more, but I wanted to post this info in case anyone else needed it.

Boy, who woulda thunk I'd learn so much about available WordPress mods from a vBulletin forum Thanks Arny.
