Don't show ads for registered users

I would like to get rid of some of the ads, particularly the whole right column, for registered users, I think they would appreciate it.

MapPoint Forums

I put all the ads on, so I know which templates to modify - my question is how do I do the code for

If [user is not registered] Then
[show ads]
End If

Thanks!
Eric

Or you could simply use this
Code:
<if condition=$show[guest]></if>
I THINK that's right, correct me if I'm wrong

Re: Don't show ads for registered users

that would work but you have a typo

Code:
<if condition=$show[guest]></if>
should be;

Code:
<if condition="$show[guest]"></if>
But I would do this:

Code:
<if condition="is_member_of($vbulletin->useinfo, 1)"></if>
As this checks for secondary and primary groups

Re: Don't show ads for registered users

I don't get it :-) why would I use is_member_of, I really just want to know if they are a guest and then show lots of ads.

(Reasoning being that frequent, registered users won't get annoyed by them)

Anyway - this is done, see MapPoint Forums

If you are a Guest the ads show up on the right. More than 90% of my visitors are guests so I don't think it will affect revenue at all.

However, after you register the right column disappears so you have more room to participate and engage ( ) in the forum.

Re: Don't show ads for registered users

Secondary usergroups are irrelevant in this case - by definition, guests can never have a secondary usergroup.

The correct way is ;

Code:
<if condition="$show['guest']">
Some Code
</if>
and the reverse (members only) is ;

Code:
<if condition="$show['member']">
Some Code
</if>
Note that guest and member are single quoted.
