Free vBulletin Styles, or Paid vBulletin Styles. ?

Free vBulletin Styles, or Paid vBulletin Styles. ?

When I started vBulletinSetup I had always in the back of my mine planed on adding a custom paid vBulletin Style one day. We've been using the current vBulletin style for almost a full year. It's a paid skin, but it's not a custom, one of a kind, paid skin.

What are you thoughts on paid vBulleitn skins versus free templates. And then your thoughts on a paid skin, and a custom unique skin.

There are a few good free templates out, and there are many good paid templates out there as well. It is good to have a unique, custom style because that creates a recognisable brand for your site.

I actually got my skin while it was free, now its 30 bucks. Timed that right, lol.

I've always edited my skins to my liking however.

I think as long as things are easy to find, functioning, and it doesn't look really crappy any skin will do. I do enjoy a good looking theme though.

If you have the money then a custom unique style is any day better than free and paid skins. I would definitely like to get one developed some day when I can afford the shell out that kind of money.

Though at this moment I am using a free skin that I have customized a bit.

Keep your brand is very important in my opinion as well.
That's one reason why I'd like to get a custom skin, that way all the icons, and everything matches the vBSetup brand. ;)

I would probably only think about spending money on a paid non-custom skin if it was exceptionally good, because even though you paid for it, it's still not unique unless you customise it some -which you can do with freebies anyway.

Quite true, custom work should help with branding as long as it is executed well and doesn’t look too much like the skins available in the market.
