I don't understand what to do with the PSD file

I got a skin, with a PSD file. I've been told to use the PSD file and change it to my specifications. I don't understand what to do and how to do it. What I see in the main PSD file is the overall skin. Do I crop parts of it to the size of the original gifs/jpegs that I want to replace in the header?

I hope my question makes sense.

You should see a image files for the logo, you'll just edit it in photoshop and replace the logo file on your ftp.

Well, the only PSD files I have for the skin is design.psd (pictured below) and quote, reply, and post psds.

So no specific PSD file for the header.

Ah, I see.

You might ask on vbskinworks ? I'm sure John will edit the logo for you.
But, if you want to give it a try yourself, what I would do is this..

Copy the logo image to your desktop, open it up in photoshop, then open the psd in photoshop, and try to cut out the same area as the logo.

Then you should be able to edit the layers, to put your site name in place of the current logo.

Re: I don't understand what to do with the PSD file

Thanks Brandon. I have a "support ticket" submitted over there and waiting for a response. I don't have the ability to understand photoshop, layers and what not. I'm thinking I should have just spent the extra $100 to have a custom skin and be done with it. I feel like I'm getting nickled and dimed with these skins (skin costs, logo design fee, installation/help fee, brand removal fee).

Anyways I digress. I'll probably end up posting a want ad in the sale section to get someone to modify the skin, and fix the dead links, etc. If anyone's interested might as well shoot me a PM in the interim.

I might have to take you up on that as I'm still not sure what I should be doing with the file. I'll spend some more time reading though and will keep you posted. The FAQ and support answers at vbs in my opinion is lacking for a new comer like me. Better off asking you guys. Good skins though. But I think I should have gotten someone to do a custom one from the start to get what I wanted automatically and without the copywrite branding.
