Re: Paid vBulletin Skins and Styles

Quick question....do most of these sites simply sell you the template and then you have to modify it yourself to fit your needs?

Or, are there any sites that help you all the way through to ensure that you're happy with how their product works with your site?

I doubt that there will be a professional site that will tweak it for you... usually, they are too busy for that.

Re: Paid vBulletin Skins and Styles

Well, I bought a skin!

I set it as my 3rd option because I'm still working on it. Since it's a 'fixed' vs 'fluid', I've got some adjustments to make. What's the best way to alter my site to fit within the 'fixed' size? Any suggestions?

Based on a quick test that I did on the CMPS homepage, I've got to resize the "Read, Comment, Enjoy" link banner that I have to make things fit. But my forums are a bit off. So, I'll have to make some adjustments on the forum column sizes.

I know at least two that will for an hourly fee; myself and vBSkinWorks. Most likely others as well.

Limit the amount of columns, their width, and the width of graphics used. You don't really need a 3 column homepage featuring every doodad possible.

Thanks for the suggestion Curio.

I'll be PMing you about some assistance if that's okay with you. John at vBskinworks (where I got the skins) mentioned that they were a little busy to customize anything right now. So, we'll talk.

John's probably still recovering from upgrading all his styles to RC3 and then getting hit with the CSRF fix from RC4 heh....

Yes, I like that Aqua one Chase and also the Eclipse has a mobile phone look to it which is kinda cool. A little too dark for my taste, but nice.

Re: Paid vBulletin Skins and Styles

Thanks Caddy I have quite a few problems with there skin only..

I keep recieving this error message with IE 7. Any ideas as to what might be causing this?

Line 15
Char 4
Yahoo.Util.Dom.get(...) is null or not an object

For my vbplaza link the drop down arrow is appearing two times. For the life of me I cant find a fix...

If a user has a homepage you know when you click their name on a thread the visit their homepage link don't work.

Re: Paid vBulletin Skins and Styles

is the vbplaza dropdown a auto-add or did you hve to add it in the template manually? and i guess this error is only on this skin, is it everywhere or just a certain page?

Blake the whole code is in your vbplaza template the navbar button left. Have you tried copying it and pasting it in your navbar within the <!-- nav buttons bar --> code?

And that puts it there...I finally got reply on other site..LOL I had forgot to look till I saw your post here..So thanx

I still have to figure out why it goes to the left of the drop down

Im planning to start my own vbulletin skin site, however I just wanted to know what kind of styles do you guys look for? Whats important factors you take into consideration before you buy a skin from such a site. i.e reliablity

Any other information you could provide that would make such a site a success is welcome.

To tell you the truth, there are TONS of great lookin' skins out there that have simply customized the color schemes and some of the corners and call it a custom skin.

The way that you're going to set yourself apart from the rest is making REALLY customized skins. Maybe skins that make your forums look like something that no one else has.

And, I agree with Chase, you have to make sure that the skins work perfectly and have a great 'look' to them. And, without a shadow of a doubt, you MUST have good support.

You can have a site with only one skin that is available for purchase and be successful if it is customized and supported greatly. Obviously, you need to have more than one skin available to help you earn a living and produce some revenue, but you could have a few kick @$$ styles and offer supporter and/or upgrade services and make some extra coinage that way.

Good luck with the site and please share with us when you do set it up!

Hello,
I'm more than willing to add the site, but I did a search on that site for "vbulletin" and it only found 9 threads. Can you link me to other vB styles that have came from that site.

Thanks
