Question to all the paid skin developers

This is a question that came to my mind after seeing vBulletin 3.7.

Currently most of you are selling your styles for 3.6.8 and most probably with one year worth of updates, would this imply that you will ensure that your current skins work with vBulletin 3.7 and 4.0 when they are released or will you only provide updates for 3.6 series?

Re: Question to all the paid skin developers

That is the reason I have started this thread, right now I am using a free skin for my forum and considering that it hasn’t been updated by its developer for even 3.6.8 (I had update it myself) I am thinking of purchasing a skin for my forum when 3.7 is launched.

But the last thing I want to do is purchase one for 3.7 only to discover that I have to either pay the developer to upgrade it to 4.0 or get a new one!

I would venure to say yes, the skin will be updated thru major version updates and available to you if you qualify for updates.

this would be better asked to the person you are buying from though

The problem is that I haven't yet decided, most probably I will be getting the next skin when I upgrade to 3.7

Re: Question to all the paid skin developers

I'm thinking about buying a new custom skin for 3.7

but to answer your question, I'm sure the skin designers will update their skins if they are being sold and they offer updates.

I'm positive the style we are using now will be updated when 3.7 is out.

I guess you just have to ask the developers about their upgrade policies.

What I meant was, if I buy a skin for 3.6.8 or later for 3.7 and few months later the 4.0 comes out, then would the developer recode the skin to work with the latest version for free of cost?

Because this is the problem I am currently facing with the free skin I have, since the developer isn’t seems to be updating it and this alone would prove to be a hindrance in upgrading to the latest version of vBulletin.

If I pay for a skin, I expect this issue to be not there for at least a year. Because it doesn’t makes sense for me to keep buying new skins every few months just so I can keep up with vBulletin's upgrade policy!

Re: Question to all the paid skin developers

Personally what I plan on doing is updating all my styles to 3.7 if possible once I get it and get it installed on my site. I currently run a skin shop with over 70 skins in it and we have more than just vbulletin, but I will work to update them as I can between other custom design clients.
