I like shout boxes too, I'm still thinking about it.. not sure if it would be beneficial on this site..

something else I've thought of, is a side column.. they are good ways to organize things, but I don't want the index to get to busy..

what does everyone think ?

I despise side columns on a forum. On the home page, yes. On the forum, no. I just think it looks ugly.

I added a shoutbox for now,, its at the bottom of the index page.. I'm still not positive I want one, but the sites already starting to get a little activity, so I thought I'd toss one up.

the box to post in was gone like 1 out fo 5 times for me.. not sure about you guys ?

ya that's what Code Monkey would tell me every time we talked..

I have the resources for now, but the darn thing wouldn't work for me.. I gave it 4 or 5 tries,, guess it isn't meant to be..

the one at vb hackers works well and i've never had a prob..

yup, the 2.1 version.. I don't know why I had issues,, maybe its my browser.
I found that the post count would go down when the shout-box was installed anyways.. and we don't want that

right now you have it as

Like I previously stated elsewhere the shoutbox is practically useless, but it often times offers users with some extra fun that may or may not keep your users coming back to the forum and or attracting new users, etc. It's a small feature, but could have a fairly significant difference.

I don't really like shout boxes :\
They are a nice way for people to send out messages globally without making a thread.
