Anyway...
Yeah, here's some more screen shots of the error information window:
I had forgotten about that neat little feature of IE. Maybe the info will help. But the page really takes a long time to load for me (and no, all the other sites I tried load normally for my DSL connection). It's like a couple of minutes before I get the "done" message, but even then some of the images don't finish and I get red X's all over the place.
Jim
PS: can't make the quick editor larger now too and none of the enhanced features work (bold, italic, etc.) vBSetup Team vBulletin Owner vBSetup Owner | | | Join Date: Nov 2006 | Posts: 41 | Location: teh Ether | Re: Error on the page Sorry, Brandon, it isn't my error. I have done nothing special to use your forum. Everything has been left at their defaults. I don't use the enhanced editor. I only use the Quick Reply editor and you are the only one who can control that. You have enabled enhanced controls on the Quick Reply editor, which is what I was referring to. I think it shows in one of my screen shots. It shows that the page has finished loading, but you can see some images haven't shown at all, some only partially and some are fully loaded.
But even if it was the enhanced editor. Why would this be an issue on my computer/browser? I checked validation at W3 and you have some serious errors: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbos...html#post16650 There's only 19, but a number of them are XML parsing errors and there's a few problems with conditionals. Maybe the problem can be found there. I doubt it will be found on my system.
Are you testing with several different browsers? Have you tried clearing your cache to see what happens? Do you occasionally check your site from other people's computers, the lib'ary or when you're outa town? Not everyone takes the same route to get to your site - lots of relays and obstacles along the way, depending on what part of the ether you're coming from. I live in N. CA (near Reno, NV) and use DSL through AT&T lines, leased to Earthlink. I get around the Net pretty good and visit prob'ly 50 or more sites a day. Yesterday and today, this site has been the only one with this kind of issue.

Jim | Well I'm using Firefox and it works for me. If you have tried Firefox and the same thing happens, it must be something on your side. On my side everything loads fine. If I can load the images that means their path was correct and I could find them. The images not loading in your case may be something on your side. | | | Join Date: Nov 2006 | Posts: 41 | Location: teh Ether | Re: Error on the page I have been surfing around the Net for a few hours already today (I'm retired, single and got nothing better ta do). Of all the sites and pages I have been on today, this one is the only one that doesn't load completely. It's the only one that has that little caution sign and reports errors on the page.
I don't make any changes to my browsers or the sites I visit. This site is in my Favorites and I am a member, so I want all the functionality I can get. My understanding is that the caution issued by the IE browser doesn't occur because of something wrong with my settings, it happens because there is something wrong with your site. If it were my settings, I'd get it on a lot of sites.
You haven't answered my query about whether you use other browsers, specifically IE. You haven't addressed the validation errors. I believe I have provided you with enough information and clues to help you research and resolve the problems, yet you continue to ignore those and suggest the problem is mine.
To answer one of your last comments, no, the same thing doesn't happen using FF, although the page loads very slowly. Of course, one of the problems with the FF browser is that it doesn't report a problem on a page like the IE browser does. That is one of the reasons it is important for every webmaster/coder/designer to use all the popular browsers to check their work.
Anyway... I reported the problem. I double-checked that it wasn't mine. I checked your HTML code validation and showed you 5 screen shots that confirm the problems. Do what you want with it, or do nothing at all. It's all good.

Can I ask you if this is an issue that just started happening ? I had moved some java script around for the tab's on the home page recently. Other then that, I don't know what I've changed. Like I said, I'll have whitemike check it out. He's our expert coder.
As for the validation errors, I've tried to clean some up, some errors I'm not able to fix
I just find it odd that none of the other 500 active members have reported this.
Anyways, let me know if it's a recent change. | | | Join Date: Aug 2007 | Posts: 186 | Location: United States of America | Re: Error on the page Quote:

Jim | I just tried it with IE and it works fine. A bit slow, but fine. And mine shows no errors at all. Do you use IE 7? I tried with IE 7, and it loads fine.
