shutterweek style

Just got a emil saying the shutterweek styles been getting good reviews, and I have to say it looks ok, but I have to say the style is great for a photo forum not a vbulletin site.

Re: shutterweek style

Almost any style can be edited to fit a particular need. You don't have to keep the camera related images and icons. Replace them with suitable images reflecting your site's focus.

My concern is that the style doesn't validate. I viewed the source code from the forum home page and inserted the code into the W3 validator. I understand there may be modifications on the home page that may be contributing to the errors, but 138 errors is far too many.

Thanks for letting me know about this Jim.

It's one thing I hadn't checked, and you're referring to the demo on vbulletinzone correct ?

I wouldn't be surprised if vBulletinSetup had that many validation errors

Re: shutterweek style

I took the source code directly from the forum home page here, using the Shutter style. I didn't know it was available on vBulletin Zone.

Re: shutterweek style

I've removed the style from here, last month when I had posted that we'd be getting this style, I had put that demo link up temporally and had just forgotten to remove it.

Re: shutterweek style

I just checked the vB Zone and ran the code through the validator. It has 99 errors for the Shutter style. The Shutter Wide style has 61 errors. What's troubling is that many of the errors are very easy to correct. Makes you wonder why the time wasn't taken to clean up those errors.

It has been very disconcerting to me that so many of the vBulletin style designers are churning out such sloppy work. Yes, the styles are very attractive, but so full of errors in code that no tech support will want to spend the time to root out a problem. vBulletin comes valid right out of the box (with the single exception of a missing xmlns attribute for element html error (which will be fixed in the next vB release and is very easy to fix with a Variable Replacement until then). Why would a designer think they are putting out quality work when it breaks an already quality product?

Just me on another rant,

Jim

Re: shutterweek style

Ah, I didn't know it was that bad.

Well that's why I just released it here before all the other vb help sites

If mike lets me in the styles section of his site, I'll start working on the validation errors, and then will repackage the zip.

Thanks for checking it out Jim
