3.7.0?

I have downloaded it for install, the thing that puts me off is the config file, i dont like messing with things like that, just like simple drag and drop upgrades!!

how easy is this upgrade??

Re: 3.7.0?

I don't think you need to edit the config file, just upload and replace the existing files and then run the upgrade wizard.

Re: 3.7.0?

What DB error did you get and did that happened after you ran the upgrade wizard or during it?

Re: 3.7.0?

Prior to loading the vB370 Gold /upload folder's contents into your current /forums folder, the config.php file located in the vB370 Gold /includes folder needs to be updated, adding your current active database information, etc. This is a manual process; just copy what's in the current config.php to the new vB370 config.php.
There's also a lot more to this upgrade that just updating the config.php, then doing the Upgrade. There's templates to Revert. 3.6.x hacks that need uninstalled; don't work in 370 or are being replaced by updated 370 hack versions, etc.
If you have the MGC Chatbox hack, for example, it needs to be completely uninstalled and all of the current 36x chatbox files manually deleted off/out of your current /forums folder.
I also suggest temporarily disabling Hooks, your plugins, during the install.

P.S. I put together a 36x to 370 Gold walkthru to insure I don't miss a step during my upgrade. I'm upgrading this evening; hope all goes well.

The vB Install Readme file, granted a bit weak on how to make the config.php changes, is pretty straight forward about what to do when doing an upgrade.
Also, there's extensive information to be found in the vB Manual, see Appendix 3: Technical Documents. In here you'll find info on how to do backups, how to change servers, how to change the config.php file. You just got to dive in and start reading.
