3 charcter searches

,

I'm helping out on a site which has one of it's requests being 3 character searches. I made the change from 4 to 3 character minimum word searches and ran the re indexing option under the maintenance, but it's still not going well for uncommon words. Obviously searching for words like "the" and "and" would be silly. Anyways, they want it. Is there any tweaking with the other admincp search settings that I should be doing? The Google search is not an option since this is for a private forum that requires membership to view and content. I have vBulletin set for vBulletin search and not full text search. What is a reasonable expectation for this? Is it doable with some tweaking? Do I need to use some different search than the vBulletin search engine? Any suggestions? Thanks!

There's an option somewhere to add words in that you want allowed, even though they're restricted, in the search options methinks
