Ack! help please!

I was upgrading my test board to 3.7.0 so I could make sure I could do it for my actual forum. I followed every instruction and was doing fine until I got to something about config.php.new and opening it in a text editor. I don't have one apparently or whatever I thought I had is not working. Anyway, nothing is happening and NOW both my test forum and my actual forum are NOT working. I'm getting database errors. I'm freaking out. Can someone help me fix my boards? I am desperate. Please pm me or email me at wndrgrrrl@cox.net

my forum is Com.org - Only the best links ...

Re: Ack! help please!

You can't have two forums pointing to the same database.

Edit the newest config.php file and take out the database name or make something else for now.

Did you make any edits to your main board? If not, that's the only thing I can think of.

If you did, track back your steps and revert the changes you made.

And I assume you've spent your url wrong above and this is your actual forum. ;)

Database Error

Check any database error emails that you get, could hold a clue as to what's wrong.

Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'
There's something wrong with the database username or password.

Open the /includes/config.php file and make sure your database username and password are correct.

If there isn't one there, take it from your last full filesystem backup.

who's username and pw? Mine as the owner of the forum? Or my host username and pw that I use to log in with for them? My Cpanel? See how freaking clueless I am?

Re: Ack! help please!

When you created the mysql database way back when you created the forum, you would have had to great a user in your cpanel. You would have also needed to enter the username and chosen password into the config.php file before vbulletin would connect to the mysql database. This is the username and password you want to make sure it correct, not your cpanel login.

Do you have a filesystem backup?

Sorry m8, I'm working just now. Hopefully someone else can aid you with that.

Did you create the forum or did someone else do it?
