Avatar File Upload Problem

When users upload avatars they receive a "Invalid File" error. The file that I tested is within specs. I've read many other posts on this subject and I have not had any success resolving it.

I'm running vb 3.6.8 on an IIS server.

Upload diagnostics returns the following:
file_uploads: On
open_basedir: None
safe_mode: Off
upload_tmp_dir: \tmp
upload_max_filesize: 2.00 MB
No errors occurred while opening the uploaded file for reading.

I've double checked the permissions in the "tmp" and "customavatars" directories.

Avatar File Path = "./customavatars"

What did I miss?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Avatar File Upload Problem

The customavatars directory has to have global read/write permissions. On a linux server it's chmod 0777. Hopefully one of the Windows guys can help you out with the proper command. I get this problem every time I upgrade when I upload the new files, it changes the permissions back to the defaults.

While you're there also change the permissions of customprofilepics/ and signaturepics/ so people can upload to them.

Re: Avatar File Upload Problem

I'd be interested in hearing from a Windows pro who has this working. I've been struggling with this for a while.

I've granted the "IIS Worker Process Group" access to this folder at the disk level (thru Windows Explorer) and in IIS. Also, I made sure that write privileges were enabled for this directory in IIS.

What component am I missing?

Thanks again for your help.

ASP Setting IIS Server Permissions

^I found that about permissions, I don't know if it'll be much help.
