Beneficial to have vbulletin Copywrite/branding?

I noticed when I searched for forums on google, I get a lot of results that have the vbulletin copy write and branding pulled up. So it made me think, it's probably worth (besides the cost to get it off) it to leave the branding "Powered by vBulletin®Copyright ©2000 - 2007, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd" on your forum, for those search purposes no?

Re: Beneficial to have vbulletin Copywrite/branding?

I can't figure that for me its worth it.

For one it's in my footer so its not before any of my important content on each page, and second there are so many sites with it, that it really doesn't bother me for the SERPs to pick it up off sites. They wont rank you for that before your keywords you're trying to get unless you really mess up.

I'd say its not worth the money, not even knowing how much it is. Besides, you said forums are expensive, no need to keep hiking the price up for something trivial like this:smiley_:

I like the clean look, I try to get brand free version on all my products if I can afford it at the time.

Frankly I would love to have the copyright notice removed, because “Powered by vBulletin®Copyright ©2000 - 2007, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd” sounds kind of fishy!

Thanks for the responses. I do want to keep the costs down, and the little text at the very bottom doesn't bother me that much to pay to get it removed. I suppose I rarely scroll down the the bottom of forums anyways to notice.

I don't think it matters to me, I keep it in to support vBulletin and the great job the team does.

I guess if it was only powered by vBulletin or some thing of that sort, it wouldn't bother me too much. But the fact it includes "Copyright ©2000 - 2007, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd" it makes me feel a bit uneasy.

I agree. I'm glad they don't tag a link to their site like so many other vbulletin skins do. I don't mind the text, I mind if there's a link.
