Can someone help me please

Ive tried on all the other vbulletin sites but its veryy hard to get an answer out of people its very frustrating,im hoping someone here can help me.Its to do with Ibproarcade when i upload games (.tar files) i get this error message when i try to install them in my acp,anyone know how to fix this its driving me mad

Have you checked the permission set on the affected folders on your serveR?

does this happen on all the games or just some?

How do i check the permissions mate?

Its happening to all the games i've tried.

well in the install readme for the arcade it should say something about chmod or permissions to certain folders.

in your ftp uploader right click the corresponding folder and click "permissions" usually it will tell you like 755 or something. the proper permissions for the folder you have listed are probably 777

Yes mate thats another issue,i kept getting an error with that so i read up about it and it says if you use a windows server you don't need to chmod anything (thats on the smart ftp site)

this is the error i get when i try it chmod

500 'SITE CHMOD 777 arcade': command not understood

I've tried it with filezilla but i get the same error.
When i had the arcade installed before it let me chmod it no problem but now it doesnt let me.

so i guess i'll have to chmod the folders to get it to work.

how can i do that?

oo thats a toughy!!!

im not sure exactly whats up with that, i use FireFTP the addon for FireFox but i wouldnt want you adding all this stuff when IM SURE you can fix it wit the tools you have.

I can't really advise anymore cause i dont want to give bad advice, BUT im sure there will be someone with more expertise along shortly. don't worry, you found the right spot to get your problems fixed.

Can you chmod from your file manager ?
like in cPanel or Plesk ?

I got told on .org to do it through a shell but i have no idea how to do that.

Thanks for trying to help mate,its much appreciated.

Also i really like the look of this place,seems right friendly..i'll stick around i think.

I think i may have found the problem maybe maybe not but i've went into my file manager on my server and it says im locked out of it.could that possibly be why i can't chmod?
