include '/usr/home/username/public_html/forums/misc.php

that path seems to be wrong, double check its correct and if needs be contact your support team for the correct string.

Found the correct path, but now it's showing me my smilies page. Not sure what the deal is. But, I'm going to keep plugging away at it.

Looks like BrianSol over at vBSEO has built a way to track your 404 pages

Could come in handy to see if you're leading folks down the wrong path. Or, where there might be a page that you need to add or something.

I created mine, but haven't customized it yet. Basically just has the verbiage that they suggested and since my header and footer are there, the folks can decide where to go from there.

what do you mean by professional?
I diid hear of one that would collect diagnostic information about the 404, including asking the user how they got the error, for emailing to the webmaster...

I have yet to customize mine. Just a small plain message. But yes, I think that having a more professional looking page would be good. I think something along the lines of some links to the most active forums or maybe some of your other sites as a little cross-promotion maybe.
