Re: "Deleting a Thread" = "Trash Bin"

I have the opposite problem, I can't get my people to permanently delete stuff. I trust them and I don't want that stuff cluttering up the database...

you got pleeennttyyyyy of DB space, as long as its in one section it'll be ok. i go thru and prune the trash section like every 6 months. sometimes there will be a thread you wish you still had, happened to me a few times

example the april fools thread i posted here about the shoutbox. that was in the trash and would ahve been deleted. i pulled it out to show you guys.

Chase, you know how I am with 'testing' stuff out! I'm always afraid I'm going to break something and I'd be so angry at myself

How do I give my mods 'soft delete' vs 'permanent' deletion powers?

No worries Arny, it's really hard to break things unless you're messing with the code. Don't be intimated, just follow instructions and you'll be fine

Since my 'upgrade issues' from 3.6.8 to 3.7.1 (my first upgrade), I'm very cautious as to what I do or don't do. Luckily, we have such great folks here to help us out during our times of need.

Back then, Chase helped me out tremendously and got me through it.

I move everything to the trashcan. And then when you delete threads from the trashcan it does not affect post count. Plus it gives the staff the chance to look over the posts before deciding what must be done.

Here is a modification that allows you to "Trash" threads:
vbTrash - vBulletin.org Forum

I love it

(And it works perfectly fine on 3.7.x)
