Re: Do you place Ad's on your forums ?

I currently run a mixture of Adsense and private ads on one of my forums. With it being such a niche that it works better with private advertisers and just a little Adsense.

The other one I run Adsense and Amazon.

I have considered adsense, and I know I could research it myself but I have a question. How does it pay?

Most boards with my theme just charge membership. It is something I wish not to do. I would however like to make a dollar or two for my time.

I'd like to try amazon, but it seems last time I submitted, I wasn't accepted.

Ofcourse yes for guests, we are not sponsored by some giants each and every penny incurred for site maintenance and software scripts goes from our own pockets, morever in case if we plan to expand the site (better hosting, more feature to members) this requires additional funds.

Advertisements are a MUST!!

Google Adsense is our saviour in this case.

do you think one should wait untill a forum has X post or X members before adding them ?

I think it might be hard for new forums to get members to stick around if they see ad's

what do you think.

Re: Do you place Ad's on your forums ?

The first one, I never planned on having ads, until I got contacted by a couple of private advertisers. So I started running those and then about a year later I started with Adsense.

I started my 2nd forum from day one with Adsense and Amazon. I just have a leader board under the Navbar and a 120 x 600 Amazon on the side and that’s it. They are well blended and not

I think as long as they are not over bearing and they are not all over the place and blended well its okay.

I don't like banner ads or google advertising so the only ads I have on my forum are text links ads

I would not start my new forums with adsense integrated, I will first plan to build content (good quality content) with atleast 200+ articles + wait for atleast 30 days (so that google indexes the site well.. I will launch adsense once I have acheived the same.

Please note I am only posting my practical experiences since last couple of years over here..

Re: Do you place Ad's on your forums ?

I thought about that also. But I would rather have it there when I first start and have the members used to them, then all of a sudden one day they are up and running.

I would rather it turn-off potential memebers off in the beginning then have a posting memebers leave after I started the ads.
