Editted Thread Title, but it doesn't change TEST

On my new site, when I go to edit a thread title, the title changes inside the post but on the forum index it still shows the old title.

Here's what I'm doing

Thread -> Edit Post -> Go Advnaced -> Change title

After doing that, the thread title shows the updated title inside the thread, but on the forum index it still shows the old one even after a hard refresh/cache dump. Anyone know how to fix it?

-Luigi

Use the drop-down menu that says "Thread Tools" and select Edit thread.
There, you can change the Thread Title.

I apologize, but, I can't find 'Thread Tools.' Where specifically in the vB AdminCP can I find Thread Tools?

it's on the top bar inside the thread there is a dropdown

i would suggest just double clicking next to the title in the forum view with the list of threads, there when you double click you can edit the title on the fly via ajax and it should work as you want it to....

You might be able to double click in the open area to the right of the thread title on forumdisplay and you can edit it using the AJAX feature.

These settings can be configured in...

ACP > vBulletin Options > Message Posting and Editing Options

Re: Editted Thread Title, but it doesn't change

Thanks guys however I think my problem is not being understood. Let me see if I can explain it better.

AJAX Feature (double click) works perfectly fine to edit the thread title. What doesn't work is when I change the thread title by editing the thread itself manually going through edit thread > go advanced > edit thread title > Save

The result is the thread title changes when viewing the thread internally (like when you're reading this thread). It does not change when you go back to the forum index and then hit refresh. So again new thread title results internally, but old thread title remains on the index when editting via go advanced editting.

It's a bit confusing, does that make sense?

If you select Edit then Go Advanced, you are not actually editing the thread, you are editing a single post. So you are only editing the title of that post and not the thread.

There are only 2 ways to edit the title of a thread; using the AJAX double click method from forumdisplay or using the Thread Tools drop down menu and selecting Edit Thread.

To test what you said, I edited this thread via the edit then go advanced method, and added the word "TEST". And it shows up in the title inside the thread, and also the thread title on the forum index. So it looks like you can, and it suppose to work, but on my forum it doesn't. Any ideas?

The above does not work on my forum, it only changes the post title.

It may depend how you have your editing settings configured.

ACP -> vBulletin Options -> Message Posting and Editing Options -> Time Limit on Editing of Thread Title
