| Forum Title Change My site currently receives very little traffic, and im currently reviewing many things i can do to try and improove.
One of these options is changing the Site name. The name of my forums does little, well, nothing to reflect what my site is about. I know, this was a elementary error when i first set the site up.The site is a generic chat forum, with games, galleries, blogs etc.
I dont want to change the url, but what implications would i have if i changed the Site/forum name.
Am i right in thinking the whole site would need to be reindexed by google?
And by changing forum name to something more approproate for my site content, would that be benefical ? |

I would suggest removing the forum title from all pages but the forumhome anyways
I was trying to find the thread around here with the code you look for, but didn't see it.. I'll keep searching |

| Re: Forum Title Change Interesting question - I once referred to my Forum as JPiC Forum For Writers. I still do - but I changed the title within vBulletin to Poetry in Color Forum. Within 2 months my forum was on page 2 of google for keyphrase "poetry forum" --- I'd say a lot of it had to do with changing the title in vBulletin.
Interestingly enough - I just checked what page for "forum for writers" and we're on page 1 = AWESOME!

| Re: Forum Title Change hmmm - interesting question. I think mainly you want to make sure that the "motif" is still the same - Also with changing the name of the forum internally within vbulletin - you may want to make sure that your meta keywords and meta description may still have the changed phrase within, so there is at least some sort of connection and you will still have the original title at least linked in some way with the new forum name.
BTW - I'm glad you like JPiC - what's your Forum url please?

| Re: Forum Title Change Caddy, i competeley agree about the Logo.
Graphically, my skills are zero, so if you feel you could do something with it, great.
Though, i am in process of changing the site name. The way the name came about, has nothing to do with "Hunting", it came about because i was always "Hunting for fun stuff" online. I thought at the time it was a good name, but in hindsight, how wrong i was lol.
Have a great day at the beach |

The Hunting Ground
Hunting For Fun Stuff? Look No Longer - We've Got It All.
Could possibly work that into the site description LOL --- I do think a .com domain would be better. And yeah - the logo is quite bad. If you're looking for a new design - I'd be happy to work with you on a new one - Examples of my stuff at JacquiiCooke.com

| Re: Forum Title Change So the name of your forum is the Hunting ground and what exactly is the theme of your forum? Is it just a general forum? Thats what it looks like.
Off topic where did you get that random arcade hack on the top of your forum? lol |

| Re: Forum Title Change Yes, the site started life as a family and friends site, but has kind of "Evolved" to a generic forum. And i know this is the biggest flaw
However, im needing to work with what i have to try and get more traffic.

| Re: Forum Title Change Thanks for all the comments so far folks.
Heres where im at now. I gave up the idea of changing the forum title, and instead went all out and changed the domain name.
Its now Chat And Play , after all, We Chat, We Play. ( lol )
Ive even "tried" to tweak the logo/header. Its still a work in progress, and I will be "spucing it up" soon.
As usual, any feedback welcome, especially now in terms that my site an the search engines are starting from scratch again.

| Re: Forum Title Change Your right,
My theme is too dark, though i personally like it, not sure your average forum user will.
Im currently trying to find a suitable theme, and with all the choices out there, i just cant make my mind up.
So..........
can anyone recommend a theme that would be suitable for a site such as mine, I dont neccesarily want free, but at the same time, i dont think i could afford to have a custom one built.
Thanks again for your time. |

| Re: Forum Title Change I think you need lots of color and a fun vibe. Have you checked out sultantheme.com? They have a number of great templates for $2. Maybe something like: Telok Kemang | SultanTheme.com Ladang Baru | SultanTheme.com
There are several nice ones there |

| Re: Forum Title Change I know, I've really enjoyed some of their templates and I'm surprised their not one of the bigger players in the vBulletin template world. Maybe that has something to do with their site being so slow last time I visited....
anyway, hope you find a good template magz, let us see the site when you're done with the overhaul |

| Re: Forum Title Change slow loading is detrimental to any site, i agree, and a lot of people won't deal with it. sultan themes are nice, i like the headers and all, but the cats and look isnt super custom like the big players, like i said though, the 3 dollar price is nice |

| Re: Forum Title Change Hi guys,
Firstly, thank you to all who have took time out to reply to this post, it is appreciated.
Well, after much searching, i finally found a lighter style that i liked, and have put it in place.
I had a few headaches with certain graphics not showing up, but have managed to sort that out.
Im still not happy with my "amatuer attempt" at doing the Logo/header, but... i think its a little better than my last effort.
Have a look if you like and let me know what you think. Am i going in the right direction, or has it been a waste of time lol.
If there are graphics gurus here, that could maybe have a go at my header, id be more than happy to see what you can do.
Anyway, once again, many thanks for your time. |
