| Forums arranged in columns on forumhome This hack will allow you to post your forums in rows on the forumhome and forumdisplay. You can see it in action on this site, I'll post some screenshots to help explain..
You can set the amount of columns to show, we have 2 right now but it's easy to make it 3, 4 or how every many you'd like.
A great hack in my opinion. :1appl: forumdisplay1.jpg forumhome.jpg Forums arranged in columns on forumhome - vBulletin.org Forum |

| Re: Forums arranged in columns on forumhome Much appreciated. It's something I'll give a shot real soon. So just double checking, this is what you have on your home page right? I kinda like that, it's a real space saver. |

Sorry for the inconvenience, but I don't want those who are using a pirated vB to use this site to modify their sites
I seen you post at vbulletin.com, so I know you paid for your vb |

| Re: Forums arranged in columns on forumhome Just started get syntax errors with it... I copied and pasted the code exactly like it says. Syntax or parse $ on forumhome ect.. line 771 any ideas?
I actually tried adding that long code Start construct_forum_columns on the top like some poster had written in vb so Im getting no errors. But I click on the main category, and set sub forum columns into 5 and the subforums are still coming out as regular subforums not in columns at all. Thanks

| Re: Forums arranged in columns on forumhome Hi guys,
My first post here.
I have installed this on 3.6.2 and finally figured out some stuff, but then I realized that my 'right side column" was pushed to the bottom of the forum.
I have gone back and re-done the steps and the change is here somehwhere: Code: <table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
<thead>
<tr>
<td class="tcat" colspan="<if condition="$vboptions[showmoderatorcolumn]">6<else />5</if>">
<a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="#top" onclick="return toggle_collapse('forumbit_$forumid')"><img id="collapseimg_forumbit_$forumid" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_tcat{$collapseimg_forumid}.gif" alt="" border="0" /></a>
<a href="forumdisplay.php?$session[sessionurl]f=$forum[forumid]">$forum[title]</a>
<if condition="$show['forumdescription']"><div class="smallfont">$forum[description]</div></if>
<if condition="$show['subforums']"><div class="smallfont"><strong>$vbphrase[subforums]</strong>: $forum[subforums]</div></if>
</td>
</tr>
</thead>
<if condition="$childforumbits">
<tbody id="collapseobj_forumbit_$forumid" style="{$collapseobj_forumid}">
<if condition="$forum['subforumcolumns'] > 1">
<tr>
<table style="border: none; width: 100%;">
$childforumbits
</table>
</td>
</tr>
<else />
<tr align="center">
<td class="thead" width="3%"> </td>
<td class="thead" width="68%" align="$stylevar[left]">$vbphrase[forum]</td>
<td class="thead" width="19%">$vbphrase[last_post]</td>
<td class="thead" width="5%">$vbphrase[threads]</td>
<td class="thead" width="5%">$vbphrase[posts]</td>
<if condition="$vboptions['showmoderatorcolumn']">
<td class="thead">$vbphrase[moderator]</td>
</if>
</tr>
$childforumbits
</if>
</tbody>
</if>
</table>
<div style="padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;"></div>
the above code in my working forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost
if i put the original back, the column is OK, if I use this, it's not.
I noticed Brandon that you have the right column mod as well, and was wondering if I may bother you to help me out.
Thanks.
bah.. I am dumb sometimes...
my original code had:
<td class="alt1" colspan="<if condition="$vboptions[showmoderatorcolumn]">6<else />5</if>">
already there so, I thought I didn't need it twice.
Duh..
Works fine now.. sorry

| Re: Forums arranged in columns on forumhome Hi guys,
I was wondering if I could possibly pick your brains here and get some help regarding the two hacks mentioned here: Forums in columns on forumhome and category icons.
As mentioned, I solved all the problems regarding these two long ago, and they are working great, however as with anything I would like to improve on this.
Currently the columns look like what this site has.
Example:
----------------------------------------------------- --------- Forum name
Image
--------- Description -----------------------------------------------------
I would like to change that to: -----------------------------------------------------
Forum name
Image
Description
-----------------------------------------------------
I have seen it done as per examples on vb.org, but asking there and reading through all the posts (trust me I have read them all 3-4 times now) comes up with nothing.
I would also like to add last post and thread info (which I have added now, but it was a quick and dirty hack which is hardcoded)
I would also like to add:
1- Make the custom statusicons clickable (to mark forums read as per 3.6.x default ones)
2- Sub forums if possible (although I hear it's not?)
These last two are simply bonuses, but I really would love some help on the positioning request I have.
Thanks.
