I have created a PSD image in Photoshop for my avatar. In Photoshop, the image has a transparent background, and shows up as such when I save the image as a Gif, and open the Gif in photoshop.
The problem occurs when I upload the Gif as my avatar. The background appears white no matter what background is actually behind the avatar.

I'm not sure I'm making sense, as I don't know the exact nomenclature to use.

Basically I don't want the avatar to have a white background, I want it to just be the Beer Mug w/ the girl, and have the background conform to whatever is actually behind it.
This forum has a while'ish background, so it's hard to tell, but if you visit my site (In my Sig) you can see that the Avatar's background is showing up white instead of brown like the actual background behind the image.

Ok, I'm rambling... go figure.

Not 100% sure but the only way to have transparant is to save as png, gif has always some kinda background but again, no expert.

Ok, I've saved it as a .png and upped it to my site as my avatar.
Still getting the white background. :2sad:

are you sure you started the avatar with a transparant background in PS, mostly ou see block raster as background for tranparant in PS, if you see white then it isn't...
maybe start new, choose transparant and then copy over the muggy lady and resafe...

Here is a SS of my desktop... you can see the PS image in it.
I'm not sure what the next step would be to make sure it saves as a transparent background besides "Save As" and select the PNG format?

just saved your avatar and opened it in PS, seems it is transparant... tried to paste it somewhere else to compare ?

Just here and my own forum.

My forum has a brown background, so if the avatar background were transparent, I'd assume that it would show my brown forum background, but it shows white. :1O_o:
