Ok this is pissing me off,,, I have no idea how they did this or how they are getting in...

Vbulletin promptly fixed it and gave me the following message:

It looks like the hacker only modified your style to add their splash screen. I fixed it by reuploading the original files and reimporting the style.

Ok so how did they "Modify my style to add their splash screen"?

How can I view this "Style" right now and god forbid later?

Stay up to date by installing our Tool Bar

Sounds like you need to do a couple things.

1. If on a shared host. Move.

2. When moving, do not use any of your current vBulletin files, or database. Reupload all new files from vBulletin.com members area, Take your old database and run it thru impex to make sure its cleaned up.

3. Ensure all your settings are secured, you dont allow html anywhere and theres a few other settings that you could check as well.

If you're on a VPS/Dedicated

1. Backup your database

2. Request the server to be wiped clean, start fresh with a new OS/ControlPanel install

3. Follow Steps 2 and 3 from above.

This should clean out any security holes, and if you're using a ton of modifications, disable them...all until you've found what is causing this.

if/when you redo all that, make sure to use a new, secure, password for everything.

You'll have to sign up again,

upload tools.php from the Do not upload folder to your admincp

and use it to restore adminCP access to a user

Now the worse possible thing..Is it is not your site conprimised, but your computer. In thus case changing any info and doing all that work....All for nothing..My suggestion is to go to an unknown computer(NOT YOURS) and change all your information..AND MAKE SURE YOUR COMPUTER IS SAFE before you use all the new passwords......I would highly not suggest using your computer unless you know its ok...If not your wasting your time and it will keep happening

If you didn't have a database back-up... your pretty much screwed.

It's a shame that people waste their time doing damage to other people's hard work.

With my site being brand new, I haven't had to endure these problems. Thank goodness.

What are your best suggestions to do a database back-up to help in case something like this happens?

make daily/nightly DB backups using SSH.

Now since your sites new you can prbably get away with using the built in database backup for a short while, but its not recommended.
