Ideas for using $username in threads?

Arny has a nifty mod installed (apologies, I don't remember the name of the mod, I just remember seeing it on vb.org some time ago) that lets you use the username variaable in the title of a thread to make it appear as if you're addressing the user. Arny cleverly uses it to invite new users to post in the introduction thread, and I've thought it might make a good joke for April Fool's Day, but what other uses could it have?

That would certainly get someone's attention Blake Too bad you can't have the name of the last person to start a thread on it too, then you could say $latestposter is calling you out to argue, $username!

Thanks for rescuing it glennybee, it was a good way to get people's attention so I'm surprised it was relegated to the graveyard...

I use people's usernames in my dynamic forum home announcements too, it's the ability to get the username into other parts of the page(s) that's unique
