Modifications Problem

Hi i am a rookie so i am going to ask some stupid questions! but in fact i am facing a major problem... :-)

I was wondering if there is a tutorialon how can i add modifications on my forum and if i can tranfer modifications from one style to another.

Also i would like some infos about how to change my navbar and my header (adding links, links for moderators only).

Thank you in advance
John

Re: Modifications Problem

To add a modification:
1. Visit vBulletin.org Forum - The Official vBulletin Resource!
2. Locate and download modification
3. Follow instructions on installing
4. If no instructions are given, the modification is probably a peice of crap anyway.

To Transfer modifications from one style to another:
1. Figure out which modifications you have
2. If they required manual template edits go to step 3. If they are just uploading a product, go to step 4.
3. Locate the modification installation instructions from vBulletin.org (note its a good practice to keep all downloaded mods in a folder on your local computer)
3a. Redo the instructions, for your style.
4. You're done

To change navbar and header:
1. Login to AdminCP
2. Go to Style Manager
3. Click the <<>> Button on the right side of the screen
4. Locate the header template, edit as you see fit with normal html code
4a. Locate the navbar template and edit as you see fit with normal html code

Having links only show to moderators, require a if conditional statement that could add a query to every page load. Which could be a bad idea for big boards, but no you know the drawback of such a thing, here it is:
Code:
<if condition="can_moderate()">
Place code you want mods to see here
</if>

Doesn't that add a query?

I do have a good question though, do all if statements add a query to pages? Or just certain ones?

And if just certain ones, then why?

Re: Modifications Problem

It adds the query to the pages that use that template it's in.
Not sure why, but it's just like that :p
