What does your provider currently provide in terms of control panel? If cPanel, Directadmin, H-sphere I can help you. - If they also provide phpmyadmin, then that would be a step towards getting a backup of your forum.

Re: moving hosting account

MySQL Dump helped me out a lot when I had to move hosts. It's basically a turbocharged database backup. Grab a copy of the database, and store it somewhere on your PC or laptop.

As far as the forum goes, you should be able to import the database with the ImpEX tool, with ease, without any data loss.

Re: moving hosting account

Actually I will move the forum to another user. From what Ive heard you can do this for me? And change hosting then. But I still need to backup not to lose any forum posts etc I guess.

If you have any more detailed ways of doing this it would be appreciated

Stefan
