Need Advice for Photo Contest Display

I'm having a photo contest on my forum, and need to have a good way to allow members to vote for the best photos. We're talking about voting on over 40 photos. So the goal is to have the entries displayed in a clear fashion with user friendly voting tools.

Any ideas?

well.. I think most of the gallery scripts like photoplog, have a rating option and it's fully integrated in the site.. Do you currently have a gallery script?

Yup, I have photo plog, but I think sorting and rating through 40+ photos would be a big turn off for voters..

ya, your probably right
maybe you can make a bracket type voting

where you pair off images, and the best one goes to the next round

I use photopost for my photoshop contest. I had to do a few custom modifications to it but it works very well.

Neat. Maybe I should have gotten photopost to begin with.

Hmm, I saw this site with a poll and several thumbnails. It looks like a decent way to create a easy to vote contest. How is the thumbnail, and little number underneath each photo done?

thats just normal forum posting.

they use the [img] tags to place the thumbnails and link them to the full size, then place a number under each of them.

could be using html but I doubt it.

Yikes, that's what I was afraid of. Seems like a lot of work to create thumbnail images for each photo and then link them to the original picture. I have to think about this more...

Shouldn't be too hard.
I've done stuff like that lots of times.

Re: Need Advice for Photo Contest Display

I saw a site that broke the 40 pictures into 5 groups of 8 pictures each and had a poll started in each thread. Everyone voted for their favorite of the 8 within that thread and that will give you 5 final pictures to do a 'championship' vote with it's own poll.

It seemed fine.
