Need Help

Every time I find a skin and save it on my desktop and go to Style Manager to upload the file I get "XML Error: not well-formed (invalid token) at Line 1" why's that and what am I doing wrong?

Re: Need Help

Yeah, make sure you extract the zip and then make sure you select only the .xml file. that is probably your problem.

Re: Need Help

Your right but when I do just the XML file it does not change the skin on the web page it still stays as the default one even when I un-check the default one and leave only the new one checked.
Is there another process to it that I missed?

vBulletin Options - Style & Language Settings - Default Style (choose the one you want).

Don't forget to upload rest of the style files into the respective directories, else you will see a lot of x's

OK this just got a lot more complicated, what other directories and what other files?

I have hade my site working for 3 days now and still have not gone public till I figure what I'm doing so I'm a real newbie to this stuff.
Is there a link on how to do all this?

Re: Need Help

A style normally has two things, one is the xml file that contains CSS and other code for the basic framing of the page and second part are the images.

There will be a folder in you zip file called upload and inside of it will be another folder that you need to upload to your forum root. Simply use a FTP program to upload that folder and you should be fine, it looks intimidating at first, but it’s really easy once you get the hang of it.

I loaded the XML file and then it has psd-files, smart blue, and the XML-files but don't see upload files anywhere.
