Need Hosting Suggestions

My forum hosting is acting like a prick and I feel it is time to give them the boot.

Can anyone recommend the hosting that this forum uses?
Is it any good?

Have you experienced any problems with it?

Or, should I just hit Godaddy.com instead?

Thanks.

I suggest hostgator, you can find a link in the footer of this site.
If you need something bigger, I suggest Fluid Hosting: FreeBSD and Windows Hosting

btw.. I moved your thread ;)

Sorry for posting in the wrong place Brandon, I'm in a bit of a mess. My board has been taken off line by my hosting company and I have not even exceeded bandwidth. I'm so pissed, "we're" all super pissed.

Thanks for replying.

What's your take on godaddy.com for vbulletin?
Any good? Any ideas?

Is your hosting company Hostgator?

If so, how has your experience been with them?

NO, don't use godaddy for hosting !!!

I dread working on client sites that are hosting with godaddy..
You can google it, I'm sure you'll find tons of ppl that hate godaddy hosting.

I use Fluid Hosting: FreeBSD and Windows Hosting but hostgator offers better deals for those not wanting to spend 40$+ a month on hosting.. I think FluidHosting.com offers superior support and strongly suggest them. ( tell them sheley.org sent ya )

Your site loads very smooth and fast. What hosting plan does your board use?

Regarding the GB of a site, how many GBs are ideal? I know the more the safer you are so your site stays online, but ideally, how much is good to have?

I'm using about close to 700MB sometimes more per month, should I look at an increase in bandwidth?

Re: Need Hosting Suggestions

Hi
I use Godaddy and I am very happy with them. I tried first ixwebhosting but they where so bad that I decided to host my own server. After a few attach by hackes I opted for Godaddy dedicated server with support : It is great considering my website ( forum + website) has about 15k visitors a day.

Re: Need Hosting Suggestions

700 mb isn't such a big deal for a well run server. I manage servers and several accounts go like 18 to 25 gigs a month. It is not traffic alone that is loading a server. It is also how well the scripts are tuned running the site and also how the server is managed. In the past I even ran about 600 sites on an amd 1 gig cpu with 2 gig ram (free accounts) I ran about a year before the hoster gave up since not making a dime :-)

If you only run a vb forum with some hacks and you use the tricks here, it won't load any server extra. I can point your nose to a server I manage for someone. Runs smooth and easy.

Re: Need Hosting Suggestions

I would never use GoDaddy for hosting. They are great for buying domains, but not for hosting.

BTW: I use A Small Orange - Web Hosting, Software and more! and love 'em
