I am new to the VB forum concept, I need some good tutorials explaining how to setup A VB template ie from downloading the new skin to uploading the image folders etc and so on.

we are big fans of :google: and want to help everyone be just as recognized by the big 3 search engines..

adding a new skin is pretty easy, well once you add one, its pretty easy.

first of, do you have a style in mind already ? we can start from here..

most of the style will follow a format of uploading the style to a image/styles folder. Then importing a XML file into the styles section in acp..

so, let me know what style your thinking of, and I can explain further

Hi Brandon,

Thankyou I have figured out that my install of VB failed to create a folder called "styles". I checked the xml file of the template i bought and it had the folder "design" as the path to the new template image contents etc.

One thing people seem to hit brick walls is the lack of documentation available.

Did the VB install fail to create this two folders or is it one of those things that newbies learn after so much frustration and investigative work or maybe luck?

The zip file came ready to go for germans, Oh well, live and learn.

So I have a folder with the name "English" waiting to be placed somewhere, but the annoying thing. No instructions to go with it.

If I knew how difficult it would be I would of taken my business somewhere else. The website does not meet the needs for english speakers and lacks support for english speaking clients.

Back to the template settings.

1. The xml file (blue-wonder-sidebar-vbulletin-3.6.0.xml)
installed correctly.

2. I uploaded the images etc to correct folder.

3. filled in the correct paths

VB Admin sets it Image Paths out as follows:


/designs/blw/headpic.jpg
/designs/blw/buttons
/designs/blw/statusicon
images/attach
/designs/blw/misc
images/editor
images/polls
images/rating
images/reputation


Ok I believe that is correct.

But when I go view the forum, it is a mess.

okay, sorry for the confusion about the styles folder..
vb doesn't make that as default, but several style I've seen use a formate like this..

so you have the XML updated, thats good

now upload the images into the image/ folder in the same structure that the zip had...
