New to Vbulletin, how much do I need to know about coding?

I'm new to vbulletin, and have no background in computer websites, graphics and code. What should I expect, and Do I need to know alot about coding? If so, please let me know the essentials.

It helps to know a little html but not a necessity.

Most the hacks just require you to upload a product, which is in your admincp.

To run a board you virtually need to know nothing. Most coders try to make it less work on the user end of things.

This is most encouraging, especially since I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm at the point where I think it may be better money spent on hiring a designer to get what I want. I've been searching this forum for a few hours trying to get a handle on everything that vbulletin has to offer, as well as trying to get those features incorporated into my site. I'm going to look around some more, and ask a few more questions before dropping the moola for a designer. Thank you for the encouragement.

Re: New to Vbulletin, how much do I need to know about coding?

Ok, well since you are knew to vbulletin I will help you with a basic terminology, some people are coders, and the others are designers. Designers make styles and can do template edits for ya, the coders do the coding (obviously lol) and make the hacks etc, and some can also do the template side of things.

Re: New to Vbulletin, how much do I need to know about coding?

Find a $25.00 CSS only skin that has no modified templates. That way you will be able to get support from vBulletin if needed and won't be married to a designer and have to wait for them to fix templates on every vB upgrade.

Hell, I bet there are plenty of free ones too.

Good luck with your forum.
