Newbie Questions

There's one thing I hate more than stupid questions, and that's when it's me that has to ask them. I looked around, but got lazy after not finding the answers in the first hour. So I thought I would expose my ignorance.

1) Is there a way to get a "second line" (like many forums have) in the topic/thread title?
2) How do I have a person enter a real name when they register?
3) Is there a way to have captions or descriptions of thumbnail photos in posts, like here The Colors of Cordylines (The Ti Plant) - Palmpedia

Thanks in advance to anyone.

Re: Newbie Questions

1) Double navigation buttons bar - vBulletin.org Forum
2) Admin CP -> User Profile Fields -> Add New User Profile Field -> Single Line Text Box

Add your details, from the 'Field Required' drop down menu, select 'yes at registration'.

3) don't know

Re: Newbie Questions

Thanks for trying guys. I guess I didn't make question #1 very clear because glennybee misunderstood as well.

Question 1) On most forums I go to, on the page where all the threads are listed, there are two lines describing the thread/topic.
For example - it will say:

Chinese Politics and the Olympics
What's up with Tibet?

On vBulletin, it has one line and then the poster's name:

Chinese Politics and the Olympics
glennybee

Here is an online example: iB:ISCUSSING PALM TREES WORLDWIDE

Question 3) Here's a screen shot. It would be nice to have a caption, or at least the ability to put a 1,2,3,4 to describe what each thumbnail is.

Re: Newbie Questions

1) In the Forum Manager section of ACP, edit the forum you would like to edit the title for. In the description field, add the following code to jump to the next line...

Code:
<br />
See pic

3) im sure if you do a search at vbulletin.org for 'thumbnail' you'll find a mod for this.

Re: Newbie Questions

glennybee,
Thanks for trying, but I guess I am not making myself clear. I don't want to change a forum title. I want there to be two lines to fill out every time someone starts a new thread of topic, like most other forums have. vBulletin has one line, with the second line used for the name of the person starting the thread.
For example - the page listing the threads might have 20+ topics listed like:

Travel to Spain
Part 1

Travel to Spain
Part 2

Travel to Spain
Part 3

I don't see where that can be done in vBulletin. Check my example link in my previous post. That is an Ikonboard forum with a two line topic description. Here is another example from an Invision Power Board forum (OFFLINE) Board Offline

Re: Newbie Questions

For number one, it sounds like you are wanting to add thread descriptions.

This hack is for 3.6, not sure what version you are running..
