Hey Brandon or anyone that knows,

How did you put the buttons with the title of the user (moderator, site owner, etc)? Is that a Hack (ajax), template mod, or a skin? I'm very interested in implementing this (different buttons of course).

nope, no hack.

These are "ranks"
you can add your own ranks in the acp, and you can set to "stack" that is what we have, thus why you see more then one on some ppl.
