My host has asked me if the forum and its add ons will be ok with PHP5

How will i be able to tell?

Most add-ons should work on PHP5. Some can run ONLY on it.
But vBulletin SURELY runs on it, even smoother than on PHP 4.

php 5 is the way to go for everything these days, there's very little that won't work on it. It's getting pretty close to the end of life for php4

Recently my host upgraded all there severs to the latest PHP and Mysql versions in which i'm glad they did. I noticed my forum started running a little better then it did before the upgrade.

I agree, I run the latest version of php and mysql and haven't faced any problems with vBulletin or for that matter any other php/mysql script.
